At SimpleDocs, we want to be your first-pass review on every contract.
Sometimes that means building and running a fully configured AI playbook that matches your exact negotiation positions, fallbacks and custom comments.
But other times, especially with lower-risk agreements, building out a detailed playbook is overkill.
Today we’re launching Risk Review 2.0.
Risk Review 2.0 delivers a structured first-pass contract review that’s easy to configure, easy to iterate, and ready in seconds.
Your Risk Review profile tells SimpleAI how you want contracts reviewed. It captures your company information and negotiation preferences, so every review starts with the right context.
Market review, powered by Law Insider, looks beyond those configured positions. It identifies non-standard, unusually aggressive, or potentially high-risk terms you may not have specifically told SimpleAI to look for.
Risk Review 2.0 starts with a lightweight review profile.
You can configure basic company information such as your company name and address and establish the context SimpleAI should use when reviewing agreements on your behalf.
The profile is intentionally easy to set up and easy to modify. As your preferences change, you can update your review approach without rebuilding a detailed playbook.

Risk Review includes a configurable Primary issues checklist covering common areas of contractual risk, including auto-renewal, choice of law, use of data for AI training, unilateral termination rights, unlimited liability, unrestricted data use, exclusivity, non-compete restrictions, publicity rights, survival obligations, and assignment and change-of-control rights.
You can turn individual checks on or off depending on what matters to your organization. And if there’s an issue that isn’t already included, you can simply add your own custom check to the list.

This is one of the most powerful parts of Risk Review 2.0.
Even a well-designed checklist cannot anticipate every problematic provision that might appear in a contract.
That’s where Market review comes in.
Powered by Law Insider, Market review analyzes the agreement beyond your Primary issues and identifies material provisions that appear non-standard, unusually aggressive, or potentially high risk.
Your Primary issues define the risks you already know you want to check.
Market review asks: What else in this contract deserves attention?
That combination makes Risk Review both prescriptive and exploratory.

For an individual agreement, you can also add Specific concerns to direct extra attention to something unique about that contract.
For example:
Pay particular attention to minimum purchase commitments.
Look for unusual pricing or payment obligations.
Flag any provisions that could restrict our ability to work with other vendors.
These instructions are layered on top of your reusable profile, Primary issues, and Market review. You can tailor an individual review without changing your underlying configuration.
Risk Review can also be configured to flag spelling and grammar issues as part of the same review.

Risk Review 2.0 goes beyond identifying problems.
Each flagged issue explains the risk and assigns a risk level. When an issue requires a contractual change, select Fix.
SimpleAI generates a Suggested Redline against the relevant contract language. You can review the proposed change, modify it, dismiss it, or Apply the redline directly to the document.
That closes the gap between identifying a problem and acting on it. Risk Review doesn’t just tell you what needs attention. It helps you resolve it.

Risk Review 2.0 is not designed to replace playbooks.
For legal teams repeatedly reviewing the same agreement types against detailed organizational standards, playbooks remain the most powerful way to encode precise negotiation positions, fallback language, preferred comments and sophisticated review rules.
Risk Review solves a different problem.
It gives legal teams a fast, structured review without requiring heavy configuration. For lower-risk agreements, unfamiliar contract types, or situations where maintaining a detailed playbook is unnecessary, Risk Review can be the faster—and sometimes more effective—starting point.
Configure your profile. Check your Primary issues. Let Market review find what you missed. Then fix issues directly in the contract.
That’s Risk Review 2.0.
