📄 Full Video Transcript

Hey everyone, it's Preston Clark, CEO of SimpleDocs. It is April 2025, and we just did our big updates on the product side. I want to walk you through what's new — specifically with SimpleAI, our AI-powered contract review tool. I'm also going to give you a glimpse into our roadmap. This is particularly relevant because a lot of the features I’m going to be sharing with you will be coming off the line in the next two to six weeks. These are imminent releases — we're moving faster than we've ever moved before.

If you’re already adopting SimpleAI, you’re probably experiencing this rapid change. And if you haven’t adopted it yet, I encourage you to jump in, test the waters, and see what we’re so excited about.

So let’s jump in.

AI Review – No Playbook Required
This is a new capability inside of SimpleAI. It's relevant because in the event that you don't have time to build a playbook, don’t have time to transfer your playbook over into the SimpleAI platform, or you're reviewing a contract type for which you do not have a playbook, this is an incredibly powerful tool.

New Standard and Expert Playbooks
We’ve added new standard playbooks and expert playbooks. This library — as you’ve probably heard me say in the past — will continue to grow throughout this year. We’re expecting to have over 50 playbooks before December 31st. These will come off the line every month and every quarter.

Custom Playbook Builder
You may have seen this before, but it’s gotten way better. I’m going to walk you through what you can do from net new custom playbook building, as well as how custom works in conjunction with the AI review that I just mentioned.

Home Screen Improvements
There are big improvements to the home screen — the first thing you see when logged into SimpleAI. These aren't just cosmetic updates — they surface and highlight key features that you may be underutilizing or didn’t know were available.

Before we jump into the live product demo, I want to touch on some of the features coming off the line in the next two to six weeks. I won’t go through the entire list here — you can grab a screenshot or we can share the slides if you’d like — but let me highlight a few:

  • User-Generated Clause Library: An integration with Law Insider where you can start building your own standard clauses — indemnification, liquidated damages, choice of law, etc. Instead of relying on AI to draft or Law Insider to draft, you can now pull directly from your own pre-established clause library.
  • Playbook Generation from Document: This has two main use cases:
    1. Upload a Word doc that lists your playbook positions — it will be automatically processed into a playbook.
    2. Upload an agreement and ask AI to extract a set of rules to use as a starting point for a new playbook.
  • Agreement Comparison: Compare drafts and highlight what’s changed. You can also upload things like a term sheet or LOI and compare it to a final agreement like a purchase agreement. This is coming very soon.
  • Agreement Template Library: Enables you to have preloaded templates inside the Word add-in (offer letters, employment agreements, etc.). You’ll be able to fill in party names, comp, and other variables via chat and generate the full document with AI.
  • Web Platform & Admin Dashboard: Launching soon, this will provide visibility across your legal team — tracking usage, review time, bottlenecks, etc. It brings full-circle analytics, just like our workflow automation dashboard.
  • Projects & Reference Tracking: For bulk uploads and large-scale document analysis. More details to come in a separate launch.
  • PDF Review (Outside of Word): Six weeks out — the ability to review PDFs outside of the Word environment. Super exciting.

Now let’s jump into the tool.

If you haven’t logged in recently — say in the last 10 days — a lot of this will be new. The new home screen highlights the most popular and most valuable features to help draw you deeper into the product.

AI Review is the biggest change. I’ll show you that now.

When you click into AI Review, you’re prompted (optionally) to identify which party you represent and any specific concerns (e.g., auto-renew, unlimited liability, etc.). You don’t need to fill this out. Click “Start Review” and the system begins building a playbook from scratch, pulling from best practices, the Law Insider database, and the document itself.

In seconds, you get a list of flagged items — in my demo, there were 16. This isn’t the final word, but it’s a powerful starting point. You can expand, modify, and iterate from here.

Once generated, your AI-created playbook shows up in your Custom Playbooks list. From here you can add new rules, edit the ones you disagree with, and get to a playbook that works for you — fast.

Redline & Draft
Redlining now allows for free-form instructions, even without a playbook. Example: “Make sure choice of law is Florida.” If that clause doesn’t meet your instruction, it flags it and proposes a redline, which you can apply directly via chat. The edit instantly applies to the document.

On the drafting side, things are also getting stronger — including multilingual support. You can say: “Please draft an indemnification clause in Spanish.” Soon, the output will include a source score and a link to the Law Insider clause index. So you can validate quality or benchmark against similar clauses from real-world contracts.

Wrapping Up
AI Review is new — and I encourage you to try it out. It’s the best way to get started when you don’t already have a playbook. The review library is growing every month, with more standard and expert playbooks on the way. You can modify and configure them to your jurisdiction or business preferences.

We’ll show the Request feature later — it ties into SimpleDocs CLM, so once you finish drafting and redlining, you can send for signature directly (no need to download, convert to PDF, or re-upload to DocuSign). Everything is tracked: version history, negotiation notes, and the signed document returns to the SimpleDocs repository.

That’s it for now. If you have questions, please send me a note at preston@simpledocs.com.

You can also book a demo with me or a team member — or just go to our site and click “Book Demo” at the top right.

I hope you’re as excited as I am. These features — and the broader roadmap — are coming online quickly. Expect another update from me in a few weeks when the next batch is live.

Thanks for tuning in.
